Lifting of ban on exploration

Government Lifts Moratorium on Issuance of Exploration Licence.

The Ministry of Mines and Mineral Resources would like to inform the public that it has lifted the moratorium on the issuance of Exploration Licence with immediate effect.

Therefore, companies wishing to apply for Exploration Licence are encouraged to read the relevant sections of the Mines and Minerals Development Act, 2022 and any other related legislations before applying.

In addition, companies wishing to apply for an Exploration Licence should submit their applications to the National Minerals Agency (NMA), starting 1 October 2023. The appropriate Exploration Licence would be issued after carefully assessing the application in accordance with the requirements outlined in the Mines and Minerals Development Act, 2022.
